Happy fall! 🍁

September is back to school season β€” some of us are parents and sending our kids back to school (or to school for the first time!) and some of us are going back to school ourselves (including Kaar!). Our Tech1010 members are fighting for union contracts because they believe we all have the right to have full and fulfilling lives. As working-class people, we have to work to survive β€” some of us live paycheck to paycheck, but even the highest paid in our bargaining units can’t stop working for the rest of their lives. We’re lucky enough to do work we think is important and build products people need!

But, this month, we’re reflecting on benefits that enable us to live our best lives outside of work (that, coincidentally, make us better workers too). This can be β€” non-gendered generous parent leave so we have the time to prioritize the new lives we take care of, flexible workdays and work from home policies so we can pick our kids up from school, get the laundry done, and feed ourselves and our families nutritious meals, educational stipends and sabbatical policies so we can take time away to learn, work on new projects, and grow our skills, oh, and 4-day workweeks to give us time back for chores, health, and leisure.
